For older consoles such as the Nintendo DS and Sony PS2, you can generally find games for pre-readers that offer kid-friendly gameplay and minimal reading. Just look for the "EC" rating on games or such licensed characters as Dora the Explorer or Sesame Street favorites. But the Wii, even though it excels at family-friendly games has no EC games currently available.
