Welcome to Leopard. Enjoy your stay.OK, so we've officially upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard, and so far, it's been an overall smooth ride. Teresa's only annoyance so far has been that Spaces doesn't save window positions after a restart, which, if you think about it, it really can't, which is too bad. I was hoping it could somehow, maybe the way the old Now Utilities for System 7 could restore open windows after a restart. For me, I've had one bug on both my home and office Macs: Keychain seems to have disappeared, so I find myself having to remember all my old passwords and re-entering them as needed. If I'd smartly done an "Archive and Install," this may not have happened--I don't know--but the odd part is that it happened on two different Macs, an iBook G4 and an eMac (G4), but not Teresa's. I'm guessing it has something to do with something I have installed that she doesn't, as I tend to "trick out" my Macs, but Teresa runs a pretty clean system. As for compatibility issues, so far, FFScroll, a preference pane that gives iBooks trackpad scrolling capabilities similar to MacBooks, appears broken,  and one of my custom screensavers appears to be the culprit in locking up System Preferences when clicking on that pane. We're still learning our way around (Spaces doesn't always interact with Exposé the way I'd like.), but expect more in the near future. Bookmark/Search this post with: |

A few bugs
So far, the most consistent bug we've found is the inability to delete Drafts in Mail. We had both been using email drafts as notes long before Apple announced the Notes feature in Leopard. So after copying and pasting each draft into a note, all those drafts are ready to be deleted, but when we delete them, they disappear, but they come back like a trick birthday candle's flame. So far, the only way we've found to delete them completely is to send them to ourselves.
I've also abandoned Spaces. I've found that it's more trouble than it's worth. That said, Teresa seems to like it, and as I eventually plan to get rid of my office Mac and condense both personal and work to one laptop, I'll likely make judicious use of Spaces at that point.
