Want to get Tech Talk for Families automatically?

You can come listen to Tech Talk for Families right here anytime you want. Our shows will show up in the player on the front page as soon as they're available, and we release at least three shows each month, but we don't have a regular release schedule beyond that, mainly due to family priorities. So how do you know when to check for a new episode?

Free Internet TiVo

Tech Talk for Families is available as a podcast. That doesn'tmean you need to listen on an iPod. If you're ever used a TiVo or a PVR or DVR device, you have a pretty good idea how a podcast works, and all you need is a computer and an internet connection, which you probably have, given that you're reading this! Just as a DVR will watch for your favorite shows and record them whenever they're on, a podcast software (called an "aggregator" or "podcatcher") will watch for new episodes of our show (and any other shows you want) and automatically download them to your computer, so if you're running that software, you'll always know when we have a new episode available.

What free software do I need?

Our favorite software, and by far the most popular, is iTunes, which is available for both Macintosh and Windows for free. We also like myPodder from Podcast Ready, which has certain advantages over iTunes, like usability with mobile phones, PDA's, and other mobile devices. Once you download and install the software, you can subscribe to our show, and you will always have our new shows.

How do I subscribe for free?

If you have installed iTunes, subscribing is a one-click process. If you have other software, it's just a few extra steps. First, right-click (Mac Users: Control-Click) on this link, and then run your software, click the "Add New Podcast" button or whatever your software uses to add shows. Paste in the url , and you should be downloading our shows from now on.

Still confused?

If you're still confused, don't worry. You're not alone. Drop us a note, and we'd be happy to help you out.
